It does have serial, ethernet, the capability to boot using PXE, and a compact flash that acts like an IDE drive. I'm switching it

I had contemplated running a cable from inside the case out to the back of the board to connect to the serial port, or even soldering some wires to the underside of the PCB where the serial port is. Update (Nov 2015): Soekris has released a Rev 2 of the board, with improved Vref power supplies and a better muting circuit. It is available in just two resistor grades, a 0.01%/0.02% mix and 0.05%. Apr 29, 2014 · Debian does require 80M of memory, so the Net4501 is out. Use a BSD distribution for those. Add a USB to serial connector and USB to ethernet connector. Plug USB to ethernet connector into Eth 0 on Soekris. Bring up USB to ethernet connector with address 192.168.0.1 (mine sits at eh3).
